James A. Janis
Chief Executive Officer
James A. Janis is co-founder and CEO of The Laundry Chute, and serves on the company’s Board of Managers. Mr. Janis grew up in a Greek American family of small business owners, where at a young age he learned the values of being an entrepreneur while working at his father’s airport restaurant.
After high school, Mr. Janis moved to South Florida to pursue a degree in corporate finance at Palm Beach Atlantic University. While at Palm Beach Atlantic University, James was named captain of the men’s golf team. During his tenure in college, prior to the inception of The Laundry Chute, Mr. Janis earned his license in commercial real estate, where he served as an associate at Anderson and Carr, Inc., a boutique development and brokerage firm in the emerging downtown West Palm Beach area. During his time at Anderson and Carr, James bought and sold multiple commercial and residential properties, and oversaw the RFP for the Lake Worth Casino Redevelopment project.
While attending Palm Beach Atlantic University, Mr. Janis was introduced to TLC co-founder, Rob Young. Rob’s close ties to both golf and Pittsburgh led to their acquaintance. Shortly thereafter, TLC launched with a contract at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and later, Mr. Janis moved the company back to its roots in Pittsburgh, where it secured a contract at The University of Pittsburgh. Under Mr. Janis’ leadership, the company continues its growth nationwide.
Today Mr. Janis resides in Pittsburgh where he serves as a mentor Big Brother for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Western PA. Additionally, Mr. Janis serves on the Jack Heinz Society Board for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Janis is conversant in Spanish, is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling.
